"A place to live" timeline
Featured project
Our brief was to transform the museum’s collections and stories into a welcoming, visually engaging and fully accessible gallery experience. A design that would sensitively respect the character of the site while bringing to life the history of the house, the park and the people.

From the outset, the stories, objects and historical accounts shaped the design. Each artifact—from furniture and documents to photographs and oral histories—carried cultural and social significance, requiring a design rooted in sensitivity, clarity and respect for the Grade I listed building. Our role was to ensure every object was not only preserved and beautifully presented, but also meaningfully interpreted.
The main gallery was split into 4 primary themes: A Place to Live, Work, Enjoy and Breathe. With the adjoining gallery featuring “A Place to be Inspired”.
A Place to Work
This area explores how the changing landscape, from rural farming to a Northampton suburb, changed the nature of employment in the area. This section includes a dressing-up area.
Place to Enjoy
This zone celebrates activities that have taken place in Abington over the years. We designed a 2 minute animation to illustrate the growth of the area from early beginnings to present day

A Place to Live
This zone explores the lives of local residents and the development of the house and village. Here, visitors can explore the layout of Abington House by building a wooden block model.

A Place to Breathe
This area explores how important the green space provided by the park is to the wellbeing of its residents. We use personal stories to highlight how the park contributes to Abington’s unique character; for this we created an area for reflection and to bring a flavour of the outdoors indoors.
Discover the oak room panels
We developed a multimedia presentation so that the user could explore the story depicted on the carving in each of twenty panel

The Abington Story
Our animation brings to life the house’s history and the stories of the people who lived and worked there.
The exhibition brings to life the history of Abington House and Park and explores how the site evolved over time. Visitors encounter personal stories, family life, community events and the natural environment, all woven into a colourful gallery journey.
